Torn Between the Two Part 8

Years passed on these islands, it has always been the same. Nothing exciting, really, until one night. A cold, misty night, it was near Christmas where everywhere Vaughn and I went the place had Christmas decorations.
The thing is, tonight didn't seem so normal. Why? I haden't the slightest idea of what'll happen.
Vaughn was more like his old self, he was silent throught the walk to Mirabelle's - I had to buy some more fodder for my cows. I had forgotten to do it in the morning. "Hey Mirabelle," I said like I was about to punch someone. I think it was because Vaughn was too quiet, that's probably what angered me.
I remember Mirabelle getting so startled she jumped a few feet back from the counter. "Oh, h-hey Chelsea..." She put her hand to her heart, relieved it was just me and Vaughn. "Someone's grumpy."
I roll my eyes, I don't know why. My body is doing what it wanted to. "I need some fodder." I said, glancing at the magazine Mirabelle was reading. Julia came out from the back with Elliot. "Mom, who was that?" Julia asked, looking at me and Vaughn, then at her mom. "It sounded like someone was about to beat y-" "No, it was nothing. You can just finish up back there, it's getting cold." Mirabelle cut her off.
Julia stared at her mom for a minute, then glanced at me and Vaughn, and went out to the back with Elliot, he was red from the cold.
"Listen, Chels, seems like you've been having a bad time, I should say s-" Vaughn began. He cut himself off for some reason, which annoyed me very much, he should have known me by now, but apparently not. "Vaughn, if you have something to say, just say it!" I yelled grumpily. I was getting tired as well.
"Chels, I love you to pieces. You know that. I don't want to mess this up, so please listen..." He knelt down. My heart started racing, and tears started to swell into my eyes. Vaughn reached in his pocket, pulling out a small black, furry box. He opened it, revealing a diamond ring. "Will you?" He gushed. I nodded vigerously, jumping onto him as he stood up. I accidentally knocked down the ring, but I was too happy to notice.
We embraced, then kissed for the, well, first time ever, really. It was weird to engage someone you've never kissed before, but at this moment I didn't care.
After our special moment, Vaughn picked up the diamond ring and slid it onto my hand. It was slightly big, but Gannon should fix it for me within a week.
I turned over to the crying Mirabelle, and Elliot with his hand over Julia's shoulder.
After this, it felt as if I was living my own fairy tale, with Vaughn as my prince, sweeping me off my feet.
Therefore, we lived, "Happily Ever After".
